LATIN LEGENDS
Tierra, Thee Midniters & Emilio: Modern Gypsy Three legendary, ‘oldies but goodies’ Latino acts are coming to the Gallo Center for a powerhouse concert that blends rock, pop, R&B, salsa and more! Blasting out of East LA in the 1970s, Tierra went on to be named “Best R&B Vocal Group” by Billboard Magazine and other music leading music publications, four leading magazines including Billboard. Their classic hits include “Together”, “Gonna Find Her”, “Memories” and “Zoot Suit Boogie.” Thee Midniters was among the first Chicano rock bands to have a major hit in the United States. Also emerging from East LA, the band recorded hits including “Land of a Thousand Dances” and “Whittier Boulevard,” while being among the first rock acts to incorporate Chicano themes (“Chicano Power” and “The Ballad of César Chávez.”) Fiery passion, rhythm and soul describe the music of guitarist Emilio: Modern Gypsy. He skillfully blends elements of Spanish Flamenco guitar with South American, African and Middle Eastern rhythms, and then adds touches of modern and new age influences to make his music both a meaningful and energetic experience.
