Community Christmas Tree
Name:
Community Christmas Tree
Date:
October 29, 2020 - December 18, 2020
Event Description:
Dear Friends:
A child, no matter their circumstance, deserves to live the dream of a “Magical Christmas Morning!” This is the gift of hope that we envision for our children on the Community Christmas Tree at Vintage Faire Mall.
THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT!
Due to Covid-19 and state advisories, we are saddened to say there will not be a Kiosk at Vintage Faire Mall. We made this decision in June when the Mall was still closed and if it did open no one was sure it would stay open.
Only our members will be shopping for our children, as keeping our children, their families and our volunteers safe is our main concern. Because our members will be doing all the shopping, we need your financial support more than ever! If you have selected one or more children in the past, we ask you to please consider a Donation in the amount you would usually spend and we welcome new donors as well!
We know that some of our local businesses have been hit very hard this year, and some are thriving. We only hope that everyone can help some. We want to thank you for your generous support in the past and hope you will be able to help our children again this year.
The majority of our children are asking for warm winter clothing…coats, shoes, and personal items…things that most of us take for granted. Paul, a 10 year old boy, needed a warm coat, and his Christmas wish was a violin. When his teacher came to pick up gifts, she spotted the violin case and was thrilled. Later we heard from her how this gift not only allowed Paul to continue his music lessons but brought hope to his entire family. This is just one of the stories we hear every year.
This year we have over 1,500 names on our Tree. We find ourselves at a crossroads in the ability to meet the needs of these children. Since we are doing the majority of the shopping we are trying to get a whole outfit and one wish for each child. So with this in mind we are figuring approximately $100 per child.
Some traditions deserve to live on in Modesto! It has been through the generosity of this community that the Community Christmas Tree has been a part of our Holiday for the past 36 years! Help us to continue giving our children the “Gift of Hope.” Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Debra Campbell
