SUMMARY:Super Mario Brothers Special 25th Anniversary Event
DESCRIPTION:(G-1993) 1 Hr. 44 Min. (Digital) In English\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n The hugely successful video games featuring animated Italian plumbers the Mario Brothers led total $42 million live action movie released in 1993~ and we're set to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special event hosted by SMB movie.Com editor and Stanislaus native Steven Applebaum. The event will feature live re-enactments by costumed performers\, audience engagement and games\, face-painting in the lobby\, and special dinosaur-themed snacks at concessions!\n\n In this G-rated film\, the two brothers (Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo) live in Manhattan and are chasing Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis)\, who wears a necklace made from a meteor fragment. Its powers can free a race of reptilian creatures from the city's sewers. The villainous ruler of the creatures\, who are descendants of dinosaurs\, is King Koopa (Dennis Hopper). Koopa has kidnapped Daisy and taken her to the underworld of Dinohattan\, which is rat-infested and strewn with garbage. The Mario Brothers must overcome many obstacles\, just as they do in video games\, to free the princess. The film spares no expense with its use of animatronic monsters and high-tech special effects. Though directors Rocky Morton & Annabel Jankel (Max Headroom\, D.O.A.) faithfully adhere to the story of the classic Nintendo videogame\, they also subvert the formula so brilliantly it has for years delighted fans and fascinated critics. The hidden world was designed by David L. Snyder\, the Oscar-nominated Art Director of the original Blade Runner.\n\n \n\n Admission: $12 for adults\; $8 for kids 12 and under\n\n \n\n Doors\, characters and face-painting at 6 p.m.\; film and fun at 7 p.m.\n \n \n Contact : \n State Theatre\n \n \n Phone : \n BOX OFFICE (209) 527-4697\n \n \n Email : \n \n \n \n Web Site : \n www.thestate.org
