DESCRIPTION:The State and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) are partnering to bring a series of three\, cutting-edge science presentations for all to Modesto’s historic State Theatre. Students can spend\, at no cost whatsoever\, three afternoons ~ Feb. 13\, March 12 and April 9 ~ learning from LLNL scientists presenting topics ranging from Computer Simulations: Earthquakes in the S.F. Bay Area to iCHIPE: Human Physiology in The Palm of Your Hand. Each talk is paired with a popular feature film\, plus each student will have an opportunity to earn extra classroom credits\, receive LLNL swag\, and can help win $500 to be used for equipment for their school’s science program. Teens can come and learn in a fun\, entertaining and dynamic environment in which parents and teachers are also welcome to attend at no charge.\n\niCHIP:\nHuman Physiology in The Palm of Your Hand\n\nElizabeth Wheeler\, PhD and Monica Moya\, PhD - Bioengineer\n\nDr. Wheeler is a group leader in LLNL Materials Engineering Division\, a career she began after receiving her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Sanford University.\nDr. Moya is a biomedical engineer and researcher.
