DESCRIPTION:You are Invited to the 4th Annual Modesto Poetry Festival featuring Workshops\, Luncheon and Poetry Contest. \n\nWith Special Guest Poets\, Authors & Workshop Leaders Troy Jollimore and Heather Altfeld\n\nTroy Jollimore is the author of three books of poems: Tom Thomson in Purgatory (2006)\, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award\, as well as At Lake Scugog (2011) and Syllabus of Errors (2015). As a philosopher\, Troy authored On Loyalty and Love’s Vision. His poems have been published in the New Yorker\, Poetry\, McSweeney’s\, The Believer and elsewhere. Troy has been the recipient of fellowships from the Stanford Humanities Center\, the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference\, and the Guggenheim Foundation.\n\nHeather Altfeld won the Inaugural Poets-at-Work Book Prize with her first book of poetry\, The Disappearing Theatre (2015). Her poems have appeared in Superstition Review\, TLR\, Narrative\, ZYZZYVA\, Cimarron Review\, Pleiades and Poetry Northwest\, among others. Heather’s “Blueprint for the Infinite” and “Two Pockets” won the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry.
