E.&J. Gallo Winery and The State Theatre present An evening with Master Sommeliers Fred Dame and Kevin Vogt. Wine and Dine at 5:30 p.m. Film at 7 p.m. This evening will surprise and delight as you speak with Master Sommeliers Fred Dame and Kevin Vogt, two of only 229 people worldwide to earn a Master Sommelier diploma, the highest level of achievement, from The Court of Master Sommeliers. Masters Dame and Vogt, in concert with the E.&J. Gallo Winery, will curate an exceptional selection of wines, representing an international portfolio from regions featured in the film Somm: Into The Bottle. Wines will be paired with hors d’oeuvres prepared by the region’s most skilled chefs, after which Masters Dame and Vogt will conduct a Q&A. The documentary, Somm: Into The Bottle, which concludes this evening of learning, tasting and dining features both men in a whirlwind of tour that takes viewer through the steps leading up to the most prestigious designation possible: The Master Sommelier diploma from The Court of Master Sommeliers. Mr. Dame was the first American to have served as President of the Court of Master Sommeliers Worldwide and is currently the President of the Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation, a role for which he is ideally suited: his ability to share his passion for wine makes him a natural teacher. He was the first to successfully pass all three parts in a single year. Mr. Vogt serves as wine director for celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse’s Las Vegas outposts Delmonico Steakhouse, Table 10 and Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House. The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 to promote excellence in hotel and restaurant beverage service. Though its members worldwide come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, they share a proven mastery of the art, science, and history that informs a sommelier's work. Admission is $45
